Petra's Pumpkin Boat

 Hello Kererū

Here is my boat that I made out of our pumpkin shell.  We were using the pumpkin to make soup and I looked at the pumpkin shell and thought it would make a great boat.  I used sticks from my garden to make the masts and cut the sails out of an old sheet.  I also used some cardboard for other details.

Today I wanted to see if it would float and as you can see it did float.  I was so excited to see that.

  2. Wow Petra. Well Done on using such unique materials to build your boat! I am a little surprised that it floated. I wonder what helped to make it float. Pumpkins I wouldn't think would normally float.
    Keep up the hard Mahi!

  3. Hi Petra, awesome boat you've created. Very creative using a pumpkin. If you got hungry while travelling to the island you could have a little pumpkin snack. You just wouldn't want to get too greedy and sink it!

    Hi Petra.
What an amazing idea you had to use the shell of a pumpkin.
You will definitely enjoy the soup you made on a day like today!
I love that you made a crow's nest at the top of you mast.
Where you holding your breath when you launched it into the water?

    1. Hi Mrs Snook, I was holding my breathe when I launched it, because I really didn't think it would float. Mr W was very confident that it would and he was right.

  5. Yes Petra I had full confidence in your boat building ability . . . it was just a simple task of ensuring you had your ballast in place correctly, which would in turn, ensure the boat was well balanced, and would, therefore float.
But gosh Petra, I do hope you take notice of Mrs Walker's warning about not getting too hungry as that would likely move the ballast from one part of the boat to another, with possibly, dire consequences! You would have scuppered the boat!
    Mr W.
