Mrs Galletly's Lighthouse Keeper's Rescue diorama

Hi Everyone

I hope that your Tuesday is going well so far.

Charlie and I have been busy making a diorama of The Lighthouse Keeper's Rescue. We used a shoe box for the backdrop and some blue paper for the sea. The lighthouse is made out of card we coloured in, with a tab at the back to stand it up, and I followed a youtube origami clip to create the dinghy. I took inspiration from Ana's amazing Fimo figures that she created for her Wheels inquiry and used modelling clay to make Mr Grinley and his cat. Unfortunately both Charlie and I felt that his face looks a bit too much like a halloween pumpkin. Oh well!

  1. Wow Mrs Galletly,
You have been busy! This look really great. I like how you told us what materials you made and where you got your ideas from such as youtube. Well done. Looks like it took a long to make, I'm glad you had a helper though! You've put alot of detail into your create. Is that ice-block sticks you have used for the oars?

  3. I love this Mrs Galletly,. Very clever thinking of your's to use all these different things from your bubble to create a diorama. I think Mr Grinley looks very cool indeed. Does the modelling clay take long to dry?

    1. Thanks Petra! No, the modelling clay stays malleable and doesn't dry out - it's like plasticine.

  4. Hi Mrs Galletly & Charlie,
That is a very impressive lighthouse, boat with Mr Grinley, cat and seagull. Thank you for sharing with us how you went about creating it and letting us know you used uTube to help. It was so nice of you to acknowledge the inspiration that Ana provided with her amazing figures for our Wheels Exhibition. I reckon you should put your diorama into an Exhibition to cos it looks so good.
I don't think Mr Grinleys face looks like a halloween pumpkin at all. I'm wondering if the cat and seagull have names?
My favourite name for the seagull would be Jonathan Livingstone Seagull.
In fact, Mrs Galletly, your seagull looks so graceful suspended there in the sky, soaring around the lighthouse like some sort of guard. I'm wondering how you attached the strings that are holding the seagull up?

    Hi Mrs Galletly.
Wow I have just spotted your wonderful Lighthouse Diorama.
I love the detail and colour you have included in your work.
You are very very talented. I don't think I would be able to make something like that!
